Remembrance Parade

The parade participants :
veterans, Army cadets, US, St John's Ambulance and various "Scout" and "Guide"
groups met at Hassenbrook School and set off at about 10.20, to march the ¾ of a
mile or so to the War Memorial led by two
pipers.
As ever if it's Remembrance Parade it rains, although it held
off until we were stood at the War Memorial waiting for the service to commence.
You tend to get a feeling that you're in the wrong place if it doesn't rain!!
Having said that, the people being remembered on this day had to endure a little
bit more than a few minutes of rain and or cold. So getting a bit wet and cold
is a very, very
small price to pay.
The service was conducted by the Rev John Guest, our Padre,
and had been altered slightly with the inclusion of a modern 'hymn' to give it
slightly more appeal to the many young people on the parade. Although the main
reason we are
there is not allowed to be forgotten. On the day Cdt Robinson carried the
squadron standard as part of the main standard party and Cdt Foy laid the
wreath. The salute was taken by Cllr Clarke ex RN, and there were much needed
tea and nibbles afterwards in the Army Cadet's hut.
