The Orsett Show 2003
On 6th September this year, the committee (with the help of some cadets, of course) supplied and ran a stall for customers of the Orsett show.
The cadets started on the day by helping customers/visitors on arrival with the parking of their vehicles. When they returned, there was plenty of work to be done in helping the committee to arrange the stall, along with the lovely lady's legs! (See pictures below)
Also, after the stall had been set up, Cadet (now Corporal) Robinson showed real initiative when he spotted some staff having trouble with their tent a few stalls up the field. He immediately took "command" of a couple of cadets by saying "You and you! Come on, let's help those people!" and went over to help them out.
Staff on these events are always appreciative of the help our cadets give, so we always try and drag them along when we run a stall. I'm sure they also enjoy the free food and drink they get on the following training night, as reward for their helpful efforts. Thanks again cadets!
Finally, congratulations to the man who won the Eurostar tickets! We were running a Raffle, of which the 1st prize was two Eurostar tickets to any Eurostar destination before May 2004! Below the squadron C.O. presents him with his prize. Other prizes included a lady's watch, an elaborate candlestick and a big fluffy duck. I must say that one man who had a go said "I'll do it, but I don't want the fluffy duck" (3rd prize). Well, the results came in... the lucky winner of the duck was indeed our man!
We'll be sending him a complementary orange within the next few weeks!
