A NOTE FROM THE CO

It's not very often that I contribute to the website directly but I feel in this instance I am duty bound to do so.

This was the first time the squadron had been involved in the Horndon Feast & Fayre.  The cadets who attended had extensive praise heaped upon them by the organisers over the weekend, for their:
> excellent conduct
> willingness to assist
> ability at drill in comparison to other attending organisations!!

Myself, the Warrant Officer and members of the Civilian Committee were humbled (embarrassingly so) by the comments repeated over and over again. It got to the point where saying well done to you was not enough, but we were lost for superlatives.

A special mention was made of Cadet's Meacham and Tolson, who remained behind on the Sunday while others went off to Wing Escort Squadron practice, made themselves available to carry on helping.

You should all be proud of yourselves and the excellent way you have represented yourselves, in a day and age when too many people are too ready to say bad things about people in your age group, the Squadron and Corps.

I would like to thank those who turned up at 0700 on both days to help on the early shift. There are two 7 o'clock's (if not earlier) at the weekend!! Without you making the effort our presence would have gone un-noticed.

Thank you (Staff and Committee included) for your efforts, you continue to uphold the name of the Squadron and Corps in the local community in the best possible way.

I would like to say a special thank you to Mrs Whale and her husband Terry who in the face of embarrassing their son (Cdt Whale) made theirs an open house to all of us who need somewhere quiet (out of the sun!!) to relax, as well as supplying bacon and sausage rolls and ample refreshments for the ravenous hordes on the early shift.
