"Heart Start" Evening

"Heart Start" is an initiative by the British Heart Foundation, designed to give people the basic skills for life preservation.

The cadets were assessed on CPR, techniques to deal with choking, unconscious casualties and bleeding. The sort of things you may come across day to day.

The course was run by Mr Jones, Director of Training, of Thames Ambulance Training Services, assisted by his colleague Mr Hill.

Cadets, Staff and Civilian Committee members took part and were awarded their certificates by Cllr Churchman, Deputy Mayor of Thurrock.

"When our squadron did the heart start course I think we all learned something new or did something better. We all have learned a valuable life saving technique which we could use in everyday life situations, situations that we may come across. I have learned something new during that course and I will take it further to use, and maybe save someone's life."
