Flying 13th September 2003

"I went flying on the 13th September with other cadets from this squadron and also cadets from 106 (Orsett Hundred) squadron. We left from the church at about 9:30am. I was nervous on the coach as I didn't want to have a "déja-vu" experience. This was because I threw up on the coach the last time and haven't lived it down yet (people keep calling me Cdt. Chuckli!) Luckily I had an uneventful coach trip in which the only event was Cdt. Tolson prank calling people.

We got to the place at about 12:00 - about 2 hours too early as we were going to start flying at about 2:00pm. It was a very sunny day, the perfect day to fly.

We watched the briefing video of a man telling us how to do things and then just waited to be called. All the cadets were eating except for me as I didn't want to take a risk (I don't think I would like cleaning the aircraft). I was one of the first cadets to be called and I made my way to get changed. I was ready to go after about 10 min. I couldn't hear a thing because of my helmet!

I got into the aircraft and we began to take off after we were introduced to each other. After take-off the pilot let me take control, and flying an aircraft is one of the best things to do. I flew over rivers and car parks and villages, and the pilot talked about the area. When you're having fun time flies, and in this case it flew quickly and it was over. I didn't do aerobatics this time. Everyone took their turn and we were off home. We got back at about 5:00 and an end came to our great day.

Hey, maybe I'll do aerobatics next time!"
