Our "Flying Visit"
"On the 23rd November 2002, the air cadets from 1582 S.L.H. sqn. went flying at R.A.F. Wyton. The air craft we were due to fly in was the Grob Tutor 115.
As the weather was quite poor, we sat in a briefing room for about 30 minutes, waiting anxiously to find out if we were going flying or not. Previously 7 senior cadets were sent home feeling miserable due to high wind speeds and fog.
On this day we were lucky as the weather had improved dramatically, and was ideal for a brilliant flight. There were 12 cadets from our squadron, and five were on their first flight. Following is an account from a cadet who flew for the first time. He recalls how he felt, what it was like and whether he would like to go again."

"I could not wait. We finally got to R.A.F. Wyton, and as the time passed I waited anxiously for a command. We finally got into the air, and I was ready to ask the pilot how he did certain things. Luckily he went through every stage of the flight with me anyway. Eventually I had the controls, and I progressed quite far, managing turns and flying upside-down. The highlight of my flight was when I managed to do a stall and recover from it. The pilot was pleased!
I also met up with 2243 (Basildon) sqn. They were really nice to me and they told me where to go when I was lost.
I flew in a Grob Tutor 115, it was fun, it helped me learn about flying and I would love to go again!"
