Gliding/ATC Sunday
ATC Sunday:
On 6th February in heading into London, we met up at the squadron for 0810 before walking down to Stanford station to be picked up by the coach. When we got on the coach, we only had 106 squadron left to pick up.
Getting into London early, we stayed on the bus before it was time to form up. We then marched round the square before doing a march past the Regional Commandant, Group Captain Hakin. After this, we then marched onto the roads of London down to the RAF Central Church, St Clement Danes. With Essex Wing being in the top gallery, we all had a good view of the service. The Chaplain then delivered his service comprising of an interesting but confusing analogy of eagles and Christians.
After this, we left the church to return to the coach, only to find that Cdts Yardley and Goodman had managed to get lost in the 30 second walk there!
Afterwards, we went on to the Imperial War
Museum. Some of the exhibits were extremely interesting we stayed there for
about two and a half hours before getting home a lot earlier than expected.
It was a great day and it was such an experience to march with hundreds of
people from other wings in the region.

Gliding
From the pictures below (at least, one of the pictures below) you can see the weather wasn't great for gliding this time.
"We were all at the church on time - still dark! We all went in Mr. Meacham's car - me sitting in the middle, very, very cramped!!
When we got there we had to sit in the briefing room to watch the safety video; the TV./Video wasn't working so we moved into the other, larger room and watched it on a big screen.
After watching this we were told we should wait to see how the weather was going to turn out. To cut a long story short, we were told we weren't likely to get up.
So, we set off home. Another downside to this journey (apart form being cramped) was that Mr. Bissell and Cdt Meacham were singing to Queen the WHOLE way home!!!!!"
